Celadon Blue
Celadon Blue or Goryeo Celadon glaze was developed in 10th and 11th century Korea. The finish is made from a feldspathic rock with additions of clay and flint rock and small amounts of iron oxide as a pigment. This finish is excellent for revealing carved designs on the glaze surface or the underlying clay surface. This finish relies on the right combination of types of clay, amounts of iron oxide, and, the firing atmosphere. When all of these conditions are just right, the Celadon Blue color develops.
