Chinese Red
Chinese Red is one of Ben Owen III’s signature glazes and has been for over thirty years. Ben’s father, Ben Wade Owen Jr., developed the glaze after many customer requests. Chinese Red was not produced by Ben Owen Sr., although many of the Chinese forms that he studied in museums and galleries during his youth featured a red finish. Chinese Red is reminiscent of those Chinese overglazes of the 16th century, and it works well with Ben III’s simple Asian translations.
